A unique professional development course that will help organisations and individuals learn about the biodiversity and nature crisis as well as developing the skills and passion to take the actions necessary to be part of the global nature positive movement.
What is Biodiversity Literacy Training™?
Biodiversity Literacy Training™ gives organisations a licence to deliver a structured course that builds staff understanding of the biodiversity crisis and equips them to act within their own sphere of influence. This training was developed at the University of Edinburgh by the Department for Social Responsibility and Sustainability (SRS).

Nature loss is increasingly treated as a business risk alongside climate change. Organisations are expected to understand their impact on biodiversity and to demonstrate action, not only in environmental reporting but in how staff communicate with customers and partners.
Biodiversity Literacy Training™ gives your team a shared, structured understanding of the crisis and practical ways to reduce impact and restore nature across your sphere of influence.
What the licence includes
- Interactive digital module built on Articulate Rise (one to two hours)
- PowerPoint presentation with extensive notes, for running a three- to four-hour workshop
- Bespoke Train the Trainer session delivered by the Department
for Social Responsibility and Sustainability
Training Team - Ongoing support and guidance from the SRS Training Team
- Certification documentation and guidance
- A bank of supporting resources to help you run the training
The licence covers course materials. Individual certificates are
purchased separately, per person, and are issued after contacting
the Biodiversity team directly.

Licence pricing and certification

- VAT is charged at 20% on UK purchases of both materials and certification. Purchases from outside the UK are zero-rated.
- A 10% discount applies when purchasing 100 or more certificates in a single order.
- The licence permits delivery within your own organisation only. Participants cannot be charged for access to the training.
